LinkedIn’s New Focused Inbox Surfaces More Pertinent Messages

LinkedIn is upgrading its messaging experience with a new ‘Focused Inbox,’ which aims to reduce spam and surface area more appropriate messages.

The next time you login to LinkedIn and open your inbox you’ll see a notice inviting you to “Try Focused Inbox.”

Clicking on the button shown above will instantly filter your messages into two tabs.

Focused Inbox uses AI to identify important messages, which it filters into the ‘Focused’ tab while the remainder are sent to the ‘Other’ tab.

Thinking about there’s an AI component included it might take some time for LinkedIn to learn your inbox preferences.

You’ll have the alternative to move messages in between tabs, or revert back to the conventional messaging experience if you do not delight in the Focused Inbox.

LinkedIn is making this change in uptick in direct messaging, which the company states is up 20% compared to last year.

In an email, a LinkedIn representative states:

“This function is the current in a series of enhancements we’ve made to assist members have more efficient conversations and link to chances through LinkedIn messaging. With conversations up almost 20 percent given that last year, we’re seeing more professionals on LinkedIn are relying on messaging to link and engage with each other.”

LinkedIn’s Focused Inbox is now offered worldwide to all users.
